For those wishing to qualify we are offering a six week basic tax course for persons interested in learning how to do complicated tax returns for themselves and/or others. The course will meet for three hour session twice a week for six weeks. You will learn a marketable skill that will enable you to prepare taxes for other people and earn extra income.
Two sessions are offered, Mondays and Wednesdays 9am-12noon, beginning November 2, or Tuesdays and Thursdays 6pm-9pm, beginning November 3.
The classes are held at 405 Queen Street, Southington, near the I-84 CT10 intersection.
Instruction is free, but there is a nominal fee for books.
Subjects covered are:
Basic forms, Capital Gains & Losses, W-2's, Filing Status, Dependents, Tip-Income, Alimony, Earned Income Credit, Child Care Credit, Child Tax Credit, Standard & Itemized Deductions, Employee Business Expense, Pension Income, IRA's, Self Employment Income, Depreciation, Sale of a Personal Residence, Rental Income & Expenses, Estimated Taxes, Extensions & Amendments, Electronic Filing, State income Tax returns, Tax Credits, and Tax Benefits for Education.
